Tell me again the U.K. isn't the Nanny State

Given the last paragraph of that article, I'm inclined to believe it was just a stupid lie made up by the waiter rather than any sort of official policy. Kind of like the time the Electronics clerk at at a local Walmart claimed "we don't sell software here" when I asked him to point me to the computer software section.

An alleged corporate decision. Nothing to do with "The State"... Besides, Faux News and The Sun? not the most reliable of sources.

do any of THOSE meet with your bias sir?
My bias, really? The Sun and The Daily Mail are tabloids... they're on better than the National Enquirer.

And as for Faux News... really? you're going to defend their "journalistic integrity"?

I'm not familiar with the other sources, but the fact remains that if this actually happened the way it was reported in The Sun and The Daily Mail, it still has nothing to do with the so-called "Nanny State". It was a corporate decision.

There really is no need for you to take offense.

I know nothing of them so have no comment but it seems odd they have the same story.

facts please in what way has journalistic integrity been broken?

I am offended by a viable news agency being slandered if it doesn't toe the party line. I am not offended by you sir, but by your willingness to discount the facts due to bias. There is more to news ,sir, than CNN and it's ilk. Don't be so quick to ignore it because it doesn't fit your mold or the stations you watch. Would you have dismissed it if it were CNN? I would have assumed it was credible and I do not care for that network.

The article appeared in their "Incredible Health" section. Other news items include:

- How far would you go for beautiful skin? Learn how some women are using bird droppings to achieve that youthful glow

- A Vietnam teen will undergo surgery to remove a 16-pound tumor on her face. Warning: Graphic Material

- A 2-year-old born with 4 legs and 4 arms undergoes a risky surgery in India

- A condition causes a reporter's skin to turn from black to white. He shares his amazing story.

- A 57-year-old man says skin treatment turned his face permanently blue

This is tabloid fodder. Hardly worth expending your energy defending this kind of stuff (in my opinion).

I'm not a regular CNN viewer, but I seriously doubt that they would report something sourced from The Sun.

As for Faux News... if you're a fan, there is nothing else to say. And you want to discuss Bias?

Oh yea???

Well my Dad is smarter than your Dad!!

Oh, and whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.

So there!

Personally, I don't believe anything anybody says, including me.

Yeah...we get this sort of "blame the state" story so often from the right wing press (The Sun = News Intl. = News Corp = Fox) it seems to become part of the general malaise.

Mind you, we did import the ambulance chasing blood sucking compensation culture that the US employ so we really deserve everything we get.
