Ted Pella Blades

Single Edge PTFE coated blades.

They cost about $35.00 + shipping for a box of 200 blades.

Anybody want to go in on a box with me?

I'm hoping to get at least 3 or 4 people so we can each get 40 or 50 blades.

Mods - if this is not allowed please feel free to delete.

Excellent, if we can get at least one or two more people to commit I will get the ball rolling.

Please don't say "count me in" unless you are willing to follow through once I have them in hand.

There is no shame in backing out BEFORE I place the order.

Sorry, I really should clarify as they do offer quite a selection of blades.

I am actually referring to their PTFE coated single edge blades.

They are special because they are coated and don't rust as quickly as the typical drug store SE blades (Treet & CVS). The are also special because the GEM Personna blades at Walgreens are $5.00 for 10 blades ($100.00 for 200 blades is a little steep).

I can go in for 25% of 200 blades for about $9. I can also do less if more than 4 members are interested. Let me know.

Mark

Perfect timing, my first SE razor is on the way and I didn't want to buy a huge batch. I'm in, preferably for 50 or fewer.

Ted's shipping is a little steep. Not too much to worry about amongst 4 or more people, but something to think about. They also require a signature for delivery, so pick the address accordingly. You will not be disappointed with these blades. They can be a bit rough on the first shave, hand stropping is a must for me, before the first shave then after each shave.

I reminded myself of Mitch Hedberg for some reason, "I like Kit-Kat bars, unless I'm around 4 or more people".

I'm in if you still want to go the Ted Pella route.

I ordered some from Amazon in a 25 pack, and wasn't happy with the results - I've used real Pellas before, and these did not seem to be the same to me. Now, I also use Treet and Pal Blues, so maybe I was out of practice, or maybe I got a bad batch, but I'd like to get some genuine from-Ted-Pella blades.

I've been debating about biting the bullet and just ordering the 200 - but this is a much more justifiable option, if we can swing the shipping.

I received some of the Amazon blades in a trade, most definitely not the same as the Ted Pella blades.

I have read that the amazon blades are the same and have also read that they are not. If the amazon blades start to rust after 2 shaves then they are not coated, as is the case (in my experience) with the Treet and CVS blades. The Walgreens GEM personna blades last me at least 7 or 8 shaves and get dull without ever rusting. I am hoping the Ted Pella blades are as good or better than the ones from Walgreens.

Any other comments from those that have tried Amazon and Ted Pella blades would be most appreciated.

I prefer the Pellas over the Walgreens, but there's nothing wrong with the Walgreens. YMMV, and all that :wink2:

I wonder if anyone who has recently purchased blades from Amazon could post a pic or a description of the box they received their blades in. The one post about the Amazon blades in mmack66's link didn't match the pic in the sale. I know those who have ordered say it's not the same box as the pic, but I'm curious if they just sell what ever blades they got their hands on at the time. With all the reports of the Amazon blades rusting, and the ones I got even look and feel different, I don't know how anyone can still think they are the same blades.

People that have reported rusting from Amazon blades probably ordered the blades that are 0.012" and are carbon steel. Those are paint scraper blades and no doubt would give a terrible shave.

The 0.009" blades in the link I provided are stainless steel and have been confirmed by folks as having the same packaging and product numbers as the blades from Ted Pella.

By all means, carry on with your group buy of the Ted Pella blades. I was merely trying to offer a more economical solution for the same blades.

I got good shave results from the blades that rusted. I think I better send a PM to the member I traded and see if I can get a description.

EDIT: Mark, could you provide a link to the .012" blades and maybe someone could confirm if that was indeed what they ordered?
