Excellent shave using the Tech. This razor is so intuitive and so user friendly - I hardly can imagine shaving the wrong way with this razor. Still very glad to dipped this vintage pool and got this fine specimen to boot. I honestly think this is my most favorite razor, even though I love my Piccolo's.

Tech Tuesday was all I wanted it to be. Razor and blade are a fine combination (as wonderfully suggested by @never-stop-learning). I have had even more comfortable shaves, but this combination lets you get away with just about anything. Excellent 2.5-3 pass shave with overall BBS levels. One disappointing thing maybe: it was over before I knew it! And I had lather for another 5 passes, but minor issues obviously.

Nothing more to add really - excellent shave.

Gillette English Flat Bottom Tech c.1948 - Gillette NEW Common Bar handle (from NEW SC Early 30's)
Super Max Diamond Edge Blade (5)
Arko!
Unbranded Chinese Brush Probably Lake Monster Hair (Damn Fine Scrubber & Painter)
Boots Freshwood AS Balm

A very minimalistic shave tonight, third trip out with the amazing Flat Bottom Tech. My respect for it grows.

A landmark tonight. My first ever deliberate DE shave of just Two passes. I always feared the result would be crap, but nope, a superb relaxed experience, and a DFS+. Perfectly good for 24 hours or more.

The FBT managed it. Amazed. Of all the Gillette and other vintage OC's I have, the Tech delivered it.

Rather hard to explain, but a two pass shave just feels 'right' with this Tech. Odd.

I am finding it a highly efficient razor in it's own right. It is in a different league from other Techs I have used.

The Super Max blade seems to love the FBT and the pairing is smooth and highly efficient. Hopefully another two shaves from that blade. Very reminiscent of a Gillette Plat.

I am loving this Flat Bottom Tech. A remarkable performer!

Oh my... That's... well that's very nice. Hm..

Nice pairing with the handle. There is on its way for me from the US. Did you manage to get hold of a fat handle too?

Guido
I need 2 now @Guido75, I got hold of an oval slot 32 Patent Canadian Tech head for £8. It's probably 1946-?

Anyone know when the Canadian Techs stopped stamping the Patent 1932 on the baseplates?

Working on it..:letterk1:

I think 1932 was always printed on Canadian Tech plates...

Not sure about Gillette's history, but last Canadian Tech I see on Mr. Razor was 1954, same year for the Canadian Rockets. Maybe that's the last time they made DE razors...

DE blades continued at least into the 70's. Everything closed in 80's.:blue:

You hoarder you 😁 - good catch! But that came without a handle then? Canadians are more often fat handles than not if my memory serves me right (which it doesn’t because you need two now).

It's a 2 part handle with only the top part present. It looks like it was part of a military set, but the handle knurling pattern is all wrong from anything on the Mr Razor site.

The handle is closest to this but has a Canadian head.

A bit baffling.
