Lots of good ways to brew coffee and tea. Most of what I drink works best with an yixing pot, but that device looks pretty cool.

They do work well - a local tea shop sells tea by the cup and uses them to brew up your tea of choice (you pick your tea, the size of cup you want, they put the tea into that thingamajig, set a timer and pour off the tea when its good to go.

In practice, its got all the strenghths of a gaiwan - lots of room for the tea leaves to expand, allows very fast infusions/quick pours, etc. Its also easier to use, but I prefer my gaiwan simply because its more traditional.
