CDNN is offering T & Co. (RIA /Armscor) 9mm Tactical 1911s for $399. Between Tisas & RIA 1911s, one would be hardpressed to find more bang for one’s 1911 $s.
What’s more, if so desired, the 9mm T&C 1911 can be converted* to 38 Super by simply adding a ($79) RIA 38 Super barrel and a ($8) 14-20# recoil spring, depending on how hot you want to go — velocities safely approaching 1500 fps with certain VV powders.
Bill (Mhinagoya) talked me into adding a 40 S&W barrel to a Taylors & Co. 10mm 1911 & most recently, a 38 Super barrel to my RIA 22TCM/9mm Tac Ultra FS.
* I had to stone a mere .001 off the back of the 38 barrel’s hood. Secondly, unlike Bill’s double-stack 9mm/22TCM, which accepts conventional 38 Super/+ brass, my later RIA single-stack has a slightly narrower breech face, necessitating readily available 38 Super Comp (rimless) brass.
Lastly, my 9mm/22TCM factory mags, in addition to three 9mm ACT magazines ($20.95 ea.), which are actually 38 Super mags with an easily removed spacer, all accept & feed 9mm; 22TCM & 38 Super rounds.
