Tang stampings and blade engravings

I've been going gang busters in ebay for old straights with the intent for restoring. Great segway from my motorcycle restoration skills as it's a great hobby to do inside the warm house during the winter

My question...are the original razor stamps and engravings intended to be a black inset? Or is it just black from the years of grime and gunk that have built up?

I ask because ive seen some videos of folks doing the vinegar bath to give the stamps/insets a black background (not sure what the technique is called). I think it looks nice for contrast especially when the razor is all polished up. But doubt it's a factory feature for restoring back to OEM.

I assume when they stamp the steel it's just a die and isn't followed by any black paint or additional steps...other than the gold etchings.

The pic is a recent ebay purchase. Notice how the tang stamps are blackened.

Thoughts/ input from the more experienced folks is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Beautiful Boker. It sure looks like paint on the tang, difficult to say for sure from photo. Typically tang stamps are clear but patina over the years becoming darker.

Could also just be artifact from the stamping process.

I would leave it as is.
