Tabactober shave number twenty five on the 25th of October 2024.

I really enjoy Tabac and it's soap scent. But I've never been a fan of the original aftershave. Thus I sticked with the balm, which is olfactory-wise potent enough for me... the original AS, however was too much for me. I tested some of the other Tabac flankers (Tabac Gravity, Craftsman, Fire Power, you name them...), but didn't enjoy them either.

Long story short, the scent of the Black Edition is right up my alley. It doesn't feature a flowery sweetness as the original AS, the opening is rather green to my nose (cedar, citrus, black pepper), but then the well known Tabac DNA kicks in. Absolut marvellous. The Black Edition seems to be a limited release for the German market, but maybe Mäurer & Wirtz are just dipping its toes into test waters.

Cheers!

A hasty inaugural outing for the Meteorite this morning, using the aggressive plate (1.016mm gap, 0.20574mm exposure) for comparison with my current reigning favorite, the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 (1.05mm blade gap). The Meteorite is a stunner in the hand. Clearly well made, good metal, a pleasing weight and balance. This morning's shave was not quite up to the same standard. Notably close and efficient, but a fair way harsher than I'm used to with the 3ONE6 (of course, the 3ONE6 is very, very smooth). However, I'll reserve judgment on the razor / baseplate, and further commentary, until I've put a few more shaves on it — especially as today's shave suffered from an unusual poor lather as I was rushing through the routine.

No shave today, I ain't got time for that. 5:30 am wake up call to get both the son and daughter to their respective competition, carpooling one of them 50 miles away. Currently taking a breakfast in a waffle house, this hasn't happened to me in a decade at least, next on another 50 miles in the other direction to get to the son's competition, then back to the daughter's one to provide food to all those hungry teenager, before getting every body back home safely. Tonights drink will be well appreciated. Fall semester can't come to a close soon enough !
