Tabac question

My brother will be in Germany next week and he's picking up a couple of Spieck shave sticks for me. I'm also going to ask him to pick up some Tabac as well. The question is, which performs best: the soap, the cream, or the stick?

I've only used the stick, but have no complaints; make sure he gets you more than on Spieck though, that stuff rocks.

I completely agree about the Speick and already have a stick--I'm going to have him get me two more so I can grate them into my shave mug.

I have both the bowl and stick and I can't tell a difference between them. Never tried the cream

Love the soap.
Stick is the same stuff, perfect for face-lathering.

I tried the cream. It does not lather anywhere near as well as the soap. I use it only as a component in Uberlather.
Same for SIM... The stick is great (milled one into a bowl)... same issue with the cream. LOVE the scent, reminds me of my normal Irish Spring bath soap.

I only have the soap in the ceramic bowl, so I can't compare with the stick (which is apparently exactly the same stuff) or the cream. But I can say that it's one of the best performing soaps I've tried.

Over all it comes to do you prefer to face lather, or bowl lather, since I'm pretty sure it's the same product in both the bowl and stick. Either way, it's a great performing soap that has a scent that tends to polarize a bit. Either you love it, or hate it. A few people have to have it grow on them, they are a bit of a minority. lol

I've tried all three -- the stick worked well, but a shaving stick just "wasn't my thing", so I gave it to my oldest son. He seems to like it ok.

The cream is NICE, using a soft brush. I suspect using a stiffer brush it would just explode with lather.

The puck was just average, until I tried a boar brush on it. That stuff is incredible, and several times over the past few weeks there has been so much lather that it escapes the brush and runs down my arm as I'm trying to lather my face!

I wish I'd picked some up when I was in Munich this last May, but I read enough on B&B about the scent to put me off. But I wonder if I missed something in not getting it. What does it smell like?

lol That's like asking what Speick smells like, if you've never smelled it before, really. I can't give any even close approximation to what it smells like, other than it smells like Tabac... it's one of those just very unique scents... probably another reason it's so polarizing, I guess.

If you hate it after you get it, you'll have no issue selling it here to various people. There are enough of us that absolutely love all things about it, it'll go fast. lol

So it sounds like there isn't anything to identify it with. You're right, I wouldn't know how to describe Speick, and don't get the "peppery" scent that others describe. As long as Tabac doesn't reek of patchouli or smell overly strong or fragrant, I should be good.

For some it's been called strong scented and such, but leaving the puck out to air out a while will knock that back as well, if needed. Let it air a couple days to a week before using it if it's too much when first opened.

I prefer the puck as well. Definitely stay away from the cream. Hardest thing to lather on earth along with L'Occitane shave cream!

As long as Tabac doesn't [...] smell overly strong or fragrant...

A lot of people would indeed describe it as "overly strong or fragrant" - it has a powerful fragrance, though I love it myself.
