Just tried out about 20 different colognes with the wife at Perfume Gallery I left with the Tabac Original it smells great. This was my first real dive into the cologne world. And it's still at a good price.
I have just been using English Leather AS I tried there cologne and didn't like it. There were a few others I liked almost as much as the Tabac but considering the $$$ they didn't compare. I'm sure some will grow on me as I get more into the scent world.

Did you buy the EdC or EdT? I have the latter (3.4oz pump-spray,) and love it. I used it quite liberally from last November ~ March, and the bottle is still 70% full.

It smells great when first put on, then gets very subtle, almost dormant until re-activated by body heat several hours later, and then ... Whoooomp, there it is!

yep. Its slightly different (the soap, surprisingly enough smells more soapy), but very close.

I've got the 10 oz. bottle of EDC, picked up on eBay for around $25, a good deal on a great cologne! I'd never smelled it, bought blind based on feedback here (a gamble I know). Glad I did, I like it a lot (had it a bit over a month now). It's my normal everyday (though I don't wear a cologne every day) go to.

I bought it blind as well and wound up loving it. But all I get from other people is negative reaction. "Old," "musty," "Smells like polish," "Like flowery B.O.," "Ewww," etc.

So I only wear it at home now.

In case anyone is looking for the 10 oz Tabac EdC, my wife and I found a deal on it last night at the local shopping mall.

It was at a store called Perfumania. Over there, Tabac usually sells for 14.99 and was on sale for 50% off! Yep, $7.50 for the 10 oz!

Needless to say, I'm stocked up.

If you have a Perfumania around, it would definitely be worth a look.

Found Tabac at Perfumania bottom shelf near back. $20 out the door. Great deal. The true smell kicks in about 10 minutes on your clothes and is great.

Just to clarify now that I have quickly fallen in love with the smell of the shaving soap..

the Edc smells most like the soap? That comes in the 10oz splash bottle right? Thinking about buying it off of Fragrancex.com for 25$. I see some of you guys have found it locally though so I wonder if I should try checking around at local places that sell cologne first. I don't recall ever seeing it at the beauty supply stores I'd check but then again I was never looking for Tabac before.
