T&H shave soap

I had a fantastic shave this afternoon after running through two tanks of gas in my sno-tho. Man thats a lot of snow!

If you are shopping for a terrific soap the T&H is a real sleeper here at the B&B. A mild lavender scent, creamy dense lather, stable slickness easy to lather ..

Give it a try!

Jim, that's a hard milled soap that receives very little mention. I think it's a great soap myself. I have used it for 5 years and never disappointed.

The T&H Grafton cream is extraordinary. Oops, wrong forum. There is the ongoing controversy that Jim at Vintage Blades carries a "no name" T&H at a bargain. Let's put some of Jim's petrol on that fire.

This is an odd one for me. I grabbed a cake of the T&H a few years ago and thought it splendid when I first tried it. As I used it up and tried other soaps, it quickly fell into disvfavour. It was not bad, just not quite as good as several others. I have since replaced it with other vegetable based soaps. Most notably the Franco soaps. I wish I liked it more since the scent was light and pleasant. Mayhaps another go is warranted.

Regards, Todd

I find the T&H not very difficult to lather, it responds very well to the dry-ish brush loading technique that is in the lather sticky.

Here is a review of the soap- http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?ltr=T&t=1596

My one qualm as I use there soaps is as I shave and go in between passes with my brush, if I have a wet face and re-lather it gets too filmy and I have to reload the brush which I find very annoying and never had that with another soap. Any suggestions?

At one time perhaps two years ago I might have proclaimed this my very favorite soap. It was (is) well thought of here... I used it for extended periods of time and enjoyed it. Now Im much more a Trumpers Rose man... Or MWF. But it won't be a disappointing exercise if you acquire it. Used to be really economical at onthefly w/ free shipping.

I was thinking that same thing. I have tried a prototype puck of the Vintage Blades soap and it is an excellent soap, especially at its price point. I have heard from first and secondhand sources that it was essentially the T&H soap. I'd be curious to know if Jim has tried that VB soap, and if he could do a comparison.

One guy I heard from had done so, and found them to be more than just coincidentally similar...

I have both and used both, the T&H in bowl and the Vintage Blades version. I find absolutely no difference between the two, in fact i have put one of the pucks away as refill in case i use up the other. The only reason i see to pick the T&H is for their nice bowl.

This soap appears in various guises around the world. General consensus is that it is manufactured by Culmak in the UK who seem to be happy to sell in it commercial quantities to whoever wishes to on-sell it. The price difference between T&H's version and all the others just goes to show you the power of marketing. Have a read through this thread.

I have the Culmak and after comparing the scent and colour to the T&H, I'd have to say its probable that they are one and the same.

The Culmak performs amazingly well and is definitely worth picking up if your're looking for the T&H - on e-bay, this stuff sells for 3.5 pounds plus 2.5 pounds shipping (so about $10 shipped at current rates) - versus $17 for a refill Stateside.

Funny this thread got posted, as the Culmak was already set out for my shave this morning!

Oh, and by the by, this is one of my favourite veggie soaps - truly an unsung gem.

Another thumb up for this soap. I'm currently out but will be resupplying after the new year. Its definitely one worth having in the den.

Damn boys, I told myself no new soaps until after Christmas. Then I got hooked on some Kent's on the B/S/T. Now this? You're killing me.

Both T&H Luxury Soap and the Vintage Blades equivalent are two of my favorites. Like others have mentioned, I can't tell any difference between these and they are a fine product.

This is a very good soap, and this thread reminds me that I don't use it very much so I need to pull it out. It lathers so easily into a rich cream, just great. I have had it and the Cyril Salter, and I have to conclude that these 2 soaps are the exact same.

I have the Vintage Blades branded version of this soap. Gonna have to break it back out and use it again!

I have pondered buying the Culmak, Vintage, or Salter versions but after a couple guys with sensitive skin reported burning/irritation from this soap I'm very hesitant. If this scent is lavender, that would make some sense because lavender EO and FOs have been known to irritate sensitive skin.
