T&H Sandalwood alternative

Dear fellow wetshavers,

Sadly, T&H have decided to discontinue their “old formula” Sandalwood shaving cream.
I’ve been using it for quite some time now, and I have always liked it.
Somehow, I don’t like the new “ultimate comfort” formula. I had a sample and it just doesn’t feel right.

I’m almost at the bottom of my last jar, so now I must decide what to buy.
I must add that in fact, T&H sandalwood is the ONLY cream I’ve ever used, and don’t now how the others are. I never had the need to try something else; never change a winning team, right?
Should I just try another T&H scent, or maybe try Trumpers, TOBS,…
Sandalwood is not really a must but I do like the scent, as it reminds me of something old (not shure what), and T&H sandalwood is rather subtle. I does not affect my colognes scent, and it’t not to heavy when I’m just opening my eyes in the morning.
How does T&H compare to the other T’s, and maybe other brands (I like the “style” of the old English stuff, so I’m not really in to Nancy Boy or any of the newer brands.
How about C&E, DR Harris,..

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Art of Shaving has the best Sandlewood cream of all that I have tried including several T&H and C&E's in my den right now. The AOS is excellent.

This is the best Sandalwood Cream that I have yet found. It is made by D.R. Harris, the scent is the same as the Harris Sandalwood AS and the performance of the cream is top-notch. If you still need another nudge in that direction................ it is on Sale at the moment!

This is my experience with T&H creams..

West Indian Limes is a good cream, but a bit citrusy for my taste. 1805 is my favourite so far. I have the shampoo and bath gel too. Great cream. Grafton is a nice masculine scent that's appropriate at all hours. However, the cream and aftershave balm make my face burn, so I won't be using it again. Grafton is an all right cream, but my main argument for getting it is the very masculine scent (if you like masculine scents).

Hmm, let's see.. what else. Lavender is a very, very good cream. Smooth, thick, slick. you name it. However, I don't like the scent of lavender that much. But look into it if you do, it's a good product.

The T&H Almond shaving cream has a heavenly scent of almonds. Smells just like a healthy dose of almond cake. Very sweet, thick scent. Perfect for cosy indoor life in Autumn or wintery weather. I shaved my girlfriend's legs with this one.

The Ultimate Comfort Range you already mentioned, so I'll refrain from commenting on that.

T&H's website still carries the sandalwood cream (although in tubes and not in tubs it seems). I just bought one from them last week - and the site still displays it. So you may still have the chance to buy them out...

That looks to be the new-formulation ultimate-comfort-based sandalwood...SRD does have a T&H Sandalwood on clearance that looks like it's in the old, black tube...maybe it's the old formulation?

Hi all,

thx for the replies, very usefull.
I think i'll give AOS a go, and i'm ordering some samples from T&H, Trumpers and Harris, and i will probably pick up a bowl of TOBS in the shaving shop next week.

If you want a similar go for the Trumpers sandalwood, but if you are looking for something better, the next level Look toward Castle Forbes Cedarwood-Sandalwood.

Away from the woody scents go GFT - from Trumpers.

As previously mentioned, Green Pond Sandalwood, made by DR Harris. Smells exactly like the Harris sandalwood aftershave. I also like the C&E sandalwood.
