T&H Creams

I've always scoffed at buying some of the pricier soaps and creams as my inexpensive shaving goods are all very excellent without breaking the bank. I also sort of like the pauper's pride that comes with buying cheaply. A week or two ago, however, I picked up a sample of Truefitt and Hill 1805, and I've been knocked off my high horse. The shaves I've gotten out of it have been better than great. I can honestly say that I have only gotten shaves as good as the ones from T&H once or twice before. The only thing I'm not 100% sure on is the scent; 1805 smells just like a brand new Semogue 1305, or vice versa. I'm thinking of buying some cream now and want opinions on the best T&H scent. I'll probably get the sampler, but thought I'd ask you guys too. I also wanted to maybe know how their soaps are. Thanks!

Grafton is awesome, with respect to scent and performance. I blind bought that and West Indies Limes. I really like Grafton, I don't like WI Limes.

The sampler pack is a good idea. It is inexpensive and you get to sample them all.

My favorite T&H cream is Ultimate Comfort, but it's a different type of cream than the rest of T&H's offerings. It's also produced by a different manufacturer, whereas their more traditional creams (including 1805) are still Creightons made. Among those, I'm partial to Trafalgar and rose. But subjectivity being what it is, I think you're wise to get the sampler.

The two T+H creams that I have are WI Limes and Rose. I love the performance of both and the scents are OK as well.

So, I just snagged the sampler, and I'm pretty impressed with T&H. They're going to ship my sampler out via UPS Overnight Air for $8 after the B&B discount; good deal.

Good job ! Samplers are always a fiscally sound way to trying out high end creams/soaps . I myself love the Trafalgar scent . The 1805 is growing on me ....and I'll try the Grafton again . Still have a lot of my sampler packs of T&H left .

Enjoy yourself when they arrive !

That explains a lot for me. I've thought the Ulimate produced a richer lather than the other TH creams I've tried, but didn't realize it has a different origin. I do like the lather from the others too, with Almond beig my current preference

My best performing T&H sampler was the Ultimate Comfort, followed closely by WI Limes, 1805 and Grafton... Some great scented creams in their lineup.

Good call on ordering the sampler. My favorite is Grafton and I should have some showing up tomorrow from them. Their B&B discount is excellent. I wish other companies offered similar deals.

Grafton has become my favorite T&H scent, followed closely by Trafalgar and 1805. Almond is a nice subdued scent. Rose was a little too sweet for me, I gave it to my dad. I cannot discern a difference in performance between any of those. Haven't tried UC though, but if its richer than the others, it may be the best of the lot.

Thanks all, I look forward to trying some of their cologne based fragrances, and definitely their limes :o16:. Any reports on their soap? It looks as though they only have one scent.

If it turns out that you do like the WI limes, PM me because I have a travel tube that I have used maybe 3 or 4 times, and will likely not use again.

my favourite smelling cream is Trafalgar. my go-to is Proraso, but every four or five shaves I'll use Trafalgar just to spoil myself. the scent is pure class.

I've used the WI Limes but the smell did not appeal. too citrusy and cleaning-fluid-like.

T&H lather beautifully; it's worth every penny in my humble opinion!

I read your write up of UC in the review section, I found it very informative. So I just now ordered up two tubs of T&H, and I'm looking forward to trying it out. Sadly, I have yet to find a cream that performs as well as AOS--GFT, TOBS and the rest just don't make the cut.

But to be honest, I have avoided Pens and Castle Forbes till now, so I guess they are next on the list.

Just when I thought I had my ADs under control . . .

OP,

Get the sampler and try them all! I really, REALLY like Trafalgar, with Grafton being a close second and 1805 not too far behind.
