T&H Cologne.really?

Got a sampler pack from T&H that had most of their colognes in it. I LOVE their scents, but even with 4 generous sprays from an atomizer, this stuff doesn't last more than an hour or two.

It's not like this stuff is cheap either, $75 bucks for 100 mL - I don't know how they get repeat business for their colognes.

Another case of YMMV. T&H does have a reputation for not lasting a long time, but it does okay on me. I usually get 8-10 hours out of it.

I agree it is a little on the pricey side, though. Wish I could find a Grafton clone for cheap.

The T&H scents are actually all clones of popular men's designer offerings. Spanish Leather (clone of Davidoff Zino) lasts a long, long time on me but may wear slightly lighter than Zino. All of the designer offerings upon which their scents are based can be had at relatively cheap - around half the price of the T&H labeled offerings.

I can't recall at this point which scent Grafton is cloned from, but I want to say it was VC&A Tsar or maybe Rive Gauche PH. It's been a while... Either way, both of those scents are going to be close in character to Grafton and cost a fraction of the price.

If I can follow it correctly, some (most) of the T&H scents are quite old (19th Century). I guess they have very old customers.

With the exception that they were all reformulated numerous times throughout the years including most recently around 2005 when they don't even closely resemble what they once were or have been since their inception.

The biggest travesty of that last reformulation is what they did to Spanish Leather. It used to be similar to Trumper's Spanish Leather but sweeter and heavier, a real 'spanish leather' in other words. The current offering more closely resembles some modern department store dreck. Having said that, I do like their West Indian Lime in the summer. It has one of the best staying power, on me, of any lime scent that I've tried.

That's unfortunate. I didn't know that. Their oldest customers must be disappointed.
Sorry.

Spanish Leather is probably my favorite, with Grafton a close second. I'm not a big fan of leathery scents, but I do like this one..... maybe because it's not so authentically "leathery"....... although I broke out a sample of TF Tuscan Leather a week or so ago after not having smelled it in quite a while and I was quite taken by it. Maybe I'm coming around on leather scents a bit. I've always liked Floris Mahon Leather as well..... probably better than the T&H offering. Spanish Leather I get great longevity out of.... but the rest of them I agree can fade rather quickly.

The current version is just Zino Davidoff re-branded. I'd love to have tried the vintage!

You just need to try some more modern leathers and you would probably dig them. Especially if you like Mr. Ford's offering.

I have their sample pack, none of them really do it for me. I think they all are essentially modern designer scents, there is a flow chart somewhere showing that each of their scents is a copy of some popular modern scent. I think they are trading on an old name, when their scents are anything but. Same with Penhaligon's most of their scents are shadows of their former selves as well.

Agreed. T&H has become another modern scent maker.
