Symmetry

Not a question, not a rant, just an observation. Over the years I've noticed that I have to pay more attention to getting as good a shave on my off hand side as I do my near side. Being left-handed the right side of my face suffers the effects of after shave more than the left. I've tried two handed shaving, but alas I'm very left-handed and just don't have the fine motor skills to shave with my right hand (read ouch, ouch, ouch!).
Here's a question for you regarding symmetry... Do you start your shave on your near side or off hand side?

I start mine on the left side being that Im right handed. I have the most problems with my right side so I let it sit a bit longer to let the "goods" do there thing.

Tough question, I had to look in the mirror to figure it out. I start on my near hand side or right side since I use only my right hand. I don't seem to have trouble on the left hand side however, wonder why??

I am left handed and I definitely do not get as good a shave on my right side. I do not really get more cuts or irritation on my right side, but I do not always get as close of a shave as easy. Sometimes you cannot really notice, but there are others when after a couple days you can tell one side has more growth than the other.

I shave both sides with my right hand, and most of the challenges I experience are on my right neck. Both cheeks and left neck are always fine, but the angles are much more ackward for me on the right neck.

Hehe... +1, I have a touch of dyslexia and have to stop and figure out right and left from time to time. Makes reading maps interesting though! :001_rolle

I am right handed and start shaving on the right side of my face. After more than 50 years of shaving, I am equally adept at messing up either side.

Perhaps you were not aware that razors, like scissors, are generally designed for the majority of us who are right handed. Clearly you need to look into getting a left-handed razor instead of the one you are currently using.

I'm right handed too, but as long as I can remember I've always started my shave on the left side. I do this is I'm using my DE or my straight. I'll do my entire shave with my right if I'm using my DE, with no real problems either, but with my straight I'll use my left hand in various places. :w00t: :001_rolle :001_tongu

Near side, but I focus a bit more on the off-hand side so tend to see better results there. J-hooking helps get rid of unsightly irony.
