SWMBO is giving me a choice of a birthday gift. A Feather stainless steal DE Razor or a EJ Bulbous lined razor. I guess she looked up expensive razors when I said anything to do with my new found hobby of wet shaving. I told her the 40$ EJ is also a great razor and she refuses to spend that little one me( oh how horrid ). So if any of you gents were in my shoes, What would you choose? Thanks in advance.

If you want the $40 EJ, then have her splurge for a jar of MdC as well.
The EJ DE89L ... and you could always hint that a new brush would be appreciated. After all, you've always wanted to try a _________ , yes?

What razor gives you the best results now?
I would ask her to marry you if you are not or havent already. A women like that is definitely a keeper!

Right now I'm very new to wet shaving and have only been using DE for about a week. I told her I liked it and she thought to get me something hight end. All I've used so far is a pif'ed Gillette Tech which i like very much. Also my Grandpa ( who wet shaved growing up and continues to do so ) is getting me a very nice brush already.

Haha so I have been told. I am a little young for that though, only turning 18 at the end of the month. Have been with her since i was 13 but i think i should probably give it a few years before that conversation starts.
If you enjoy a Tech then once you develope good technique the Feather should serve you well and may be the only razor you'll ever need, but not knowing anything about you two, relationship/finances etc. the better choice may be a less costly gift. You can always come up with a razor, a good woman is not alway so easlily found....

Thanks for the input, I've read the the feather is similar to the TECH so i was starting to lean that way. Were both living with our parents and going to school so we have very little bills to pay, our jobs support each others toys and hobbys for now. I can enjoy it while it lasts right?
You might also point her at a Weber. Damn fine razor, and not quite as expensive as the Feather.
If this is within your means and you two treat each other to nice things then by all means, enjoy.
Just be sure to remember her birthday when it comes around.

Don't worry, Took her on a trip to AZ to spend a week off and then took her to the Tiffany's store. Only reason I don't feel guilty about getting a nice razor haha.
Feather. The 89is a great razor but the quality of the feather is top of the line. I found both to be great shavers.
a straight and a strop
The Muhle R89 might be another good option. Same head as the EJ89, little nicer finish/handle IMHO. If you like the mild Tech, then this would be similar as it is a pretty mild razor too.

Yep, Me and SWMBO have decided on the feather. Will probably order from Royalshave.com I know they have a 10% B&B discount, do you think it applies the the feather?
Yup, some people have all the luck. Amazing SWMBO that understands traditional wet shaving and lots of money.
I am not familar with their pricing, but I would inquire before ordering.
Sounds like you may end up with two "keepers" .......SWMBO and a Feather AS-D1.......LOL.
