Switchng Back and Forth from SE to DE

Hi
I use superspeeds to shave most of the time. I have 6 SE razors , an Ever Ready 1912 , Gem Junior , Gbar , Damaskeene , and a couple of Micromatics. I have tried them a few times , but I am curious to know if anyone who switches back and forth from DE to SE shaving needs a shave or two to adjust from one to another..When I used them , I got decent shaves but since I am more used to using Gillettes , I find myself getting a better shave.. I am going to try to swich back and forth from time to time but wanted other opinions on how it is to switch from DE to SE. Thank you..

This isn't exactly what you're looking for...

Seeing that you like SuperSpeeds and Single Edge Razors it makes me think that there's various Double Edge razors that perform much closer to Single Edges than a SuperSpeed will.My wild guess is you may find that you really would like using a more efficient/aggressive Double Edge razor.

I needed a GEMini to get really used to SE shaving. One month of nothing bu SE focuses your technique. After repeating with SEptember I can switch back and forth.

I switch back and forth often, and for good measure add in my Fatip. Sometimes I get great shaves, sometimes not so much. I should prolly not switch so much.

Regular use to learn your technique. Once learned for me switching from DE to SE is a lot like switching from manual to automatic in a car. I just do it on the fly now. Learn your technique, then enjoy.

I switch back and forth, something different every day.
I get a good shave with the SE an don't seem to get the nicks that I do with some of the DE, like the R41.

I only switch to Schick injectors from DEs. I just need to get used to the lightness of the injector razor.

I love to switch back and forth. I have been giving my SEs extra focus lately though, and both my SE and DE shaves are improving dramatically.

I go back and forth constantly without issues.

Using different kinds of razors has helped me to shave on feedback rather than muscle memory.

I also go back and forth from SEs to DEs, and haven't noticed any particular difficulties. However, I must admit that being a switch shaver goes way on back in time for me. I started shaving 59 years ago this December, and was too clumsy at first with a DE; didn't master that for ten years (stopped trying), used SEs, starting with a Gem, and switching to an Injector when I was about 16. When I did begin using a Gillette DE, I continued using the Injector, back and forth, both brands, for quite a few years.

Thank all of you for your input. I broke out my OC Micromatic this morning. I have not used it for several months and I got a fantastic shave. I will be definitely using my se's more often !!

My father was right...at least about one thing: Single Edge razors are superior shavers. I've danced around with DEs and a few are notable, but none match my SEs.

I go back to my DE's because I miss my Single Ring and Old Type's, until I shave with one and realize my SE's shave me much closer. I have been using my SE's for the last few months and don't think I could ever go back to DE's except for an occasional shave.

I switch back and forth every week or so. It's not a big deal. It's like riding different bicycles, once to know how to do it you don't forget.

That's me exactly....

I use mostly straights that I hone myself but switch to de and se regularly. I think sticking to SE for a long period will help you be able to switch more in the future.

I love straights but also like the superspeed...

I don't switch back and forth, but I have found that I use both during the same shave. My SE will do most of my face, neck and chin. But I'll switch to a DE for my lip areas.
