Swapping End Caps?

Forgive me if this has been reviewed before, but I didn't happen to turn up specifics.

Basically, I have one Gillette Superspeed with no caps, and another with (same model).
As the one without is in better shape than the one with, overall, I'd like to transfer them from the worse to the better.

I recall someone had mentioned you could apply a soldering iron onto the good caps, but I wasn't able to get it off this way (perhaps prying was also involved).
Then of course, there's the question of how to apply them onto the other razor.

Any advice on this from those who have done it?
Pictures make things better!
Thank you!

If you can get the end cap off you can use epoxy to attach it to the other razor. It's funny how they come off by themselves but difficult to take off when you want it to.

Are you sure the one without endcaps is not a Ranger Tech?

The RT's were without endcaps and featured a particularly snazzy finish. They're older than Superspeeds, and quite collectable from what I gather.

When I tried this my soldering iron wouldn't get the caps off the donor, & I ended up using a propane torch. To re-attach epoxy worked well

As you can see, the one on the left has good caps, but badly scratched up (and that's only the top).
The one on the right is in very good condition so look as you overlook the end caps..

Ah. Both razors are red tips. The one without the caps look pretty good. If you plan on using it and not putting it in a home museum just leave it as is. It's neat. And a great shaver.

Initial thought . . . I would try a disassembly, use the center bar/end cap/rod assembly with the best doors and handle . . . better than ruining the finish by torching end caps off a perfectly good assembly . . .

I would sell both as is and buy one in the condition that you seek. I've killed two acceptable razors trying this before.
