Super Speed Trouble

I recently inherited a 40's style SS from my godfather. Everything works except that as I turn the dial to open the "doors" it falls slightly and then won't turn until it is pushed up a little bit. I've taken a short video of the problem which you can take a look at on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nKnIQ45qs8 to help show you the problem.

My question is the following; Is there anything that can be done to improve the turning mechanism? Thank you.

That's a great resource, but my "knob" doesn't fall as much as that SS. I don't think I would have enough room to make grooves. To give you an idea if you stacked 3 blades on top of eachother that would be similar to the size of the gap.

You run the pipe cutter tool on the groove on the outside of the handle, not the part that slides out of the handle.

So if I understand correctly I have to tighten the wheel of the tool as I turn the knob of the razor so as to put it "back on track"?

The inner piece has a groove and crimping the outer piece secures the inner and outer pieces so that the inner piece stays in the handle. At least that is my understanding of the process.
