What's new

Sunscreen

It's finally warming up here in Michigan. I need a new sunscreen for my face. I have acne prone oily skin. Anybody found something that works?

Try Jack Black's facial moisturizer with SPF. I use it once a day after I clean up in the morning. Good stuff. And ya might think it's 'spensive, but if you buy the the medium or large size, it's pretty fair.

I use Devita Solar Body Block SPF30 it's intended for the body but it's very light, non-greasy, all natural and works well on the face. It doesn't require much, so a 7oz tube goes a long way..I ordered three tubes last year when it was on sale for $12...good stuff.

Blue Lizard. The stuff is a miracle for pasty guys like myself. It can be hard to find in stores, but easy to find online.

eucerin makes several different lotions. i found one at walmart last week that is sold as "multi-purpose," cost about $6 for 15oz. it has SPF 15. it works well as an ASB and i plan on using it regularly on my face and neck this season as it has a great feel and does not have that characteristic "SPF smell." i really don't detect much of a scent at all.

CVS with zinc oxide

+1 cheap and effective, I keep a 16oz bottle in my beachpack.

For a bit more cash, I prefer Hawaiian Tropic - the creamy stuff. It's THICK and somewhat difficult to apply, but it works for hours, even in water. And it smells like Hawaiian Tropic! :cool1:

Not sure about the acne friendliness of either of these though.

We had a big sunscreen thread on this board around this time last year and some guy (I don't remember who it was, so apologies to whoever it was) recommended Elta MD. A bunch of people here tried it and I think everyone was very pleased with the result, myself included.

I have extremely oily skin and I use the UV Shield version, which is Oil Free and marketed for people with oily skin. They also make one for acne prone skin, which I might try soon.

You can buy it at dermstore.com. Some dermatologists sell it, as well.

I'd try Aveeno. Their products are as gentle to the skin as anything i have tried. They have several products with sunscreen, but something like this might be perfect for you:

Generally speaking I love Aveeno's sunscreen. It works well and doesn't "clog" pores and cause me to sweat up a storm. It absorbs quickly too and doesn't leave me looking like a ghost. I haven't tried any of their facial sunscreen, but I use their "regular" sunscreen on my face all the time. This past weekend up here was a glorious weekend to finally get out and about.
