Summer Scent?

Any suggestions for a summer scent.

I am looking for a general everyday splash, something that has that summer feel/scent to it.

I have Royall Lyme & Mandarin that I like those, but just curious about any other recommends?

TIA

I quite like Ogallala Bay Rum, but when I used it the other day, it seemed a bit strong for the warmer weather we are having now in Southern California.

My new favorite at the moment is Ogallalla Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorns. An amazing light and fresh scent with a good amount of staying power. I will always keep this on hand. Fantastic stuff!

The Royall Lyme is dynamite too...Might be the best lime a/s cologne I've ever smelled.

My favorite summer scent remains Acqua Di Parma Colonia. I also like Hermes Terre D'Hermes and Hermes Eau D'Orange Verte.

GFT Wild Fern or Aqua di Parma Colonia for a classier type of thing.

edit: oh yeah, and pretty much any vetiver scent.

You mean a splash or a cologne?

For an aftershave splash, I love Proraso. It's right up there with Musgo Real for me.

For a cologne I'd pick Tam Dao. If you want something a little lighter, Azzaro Chrome - much cheaper than T&H 1805 and equally well done.

Bowling Green by Geoffrey Beene is one of my favourite for summer: it's nice green and fresh scent. Too bad it's discontinued but still available in some web shops.

Aqua di Parma is excellent too and Taylor's Victorian Lime.

+1 to Ogallala (both "plain" and Limes)

Also, C&E makes a nice "West Indies Lime" which starts out limey but dries down to a light spice/musk.

SCS Bay Rum with a Twist (of lime) is also fantastic; a bit sweeter than Og.

First, let me be the first to say that AdP Colonia is not universally loved. Every six months I give it another try, and the powder drydown makes me want to tear the skin off my chest. Many like it, but lest someone get the impression you can't go wrong with it, remember that YMMV.

Now, having said that, yes, Ogwalla's Bay Rums are quite a treat, and very affordable. I question their lasting power, however. Get the sampler pack; you can't go wrong and one of the many will satisfy you.

Bay Rum with a Twist has an invigorating lime opener and then settles down to a bay rum that is more lasting. This is worth a try, and like bay rums, it's very affordable.

The "oceanics" such as 1805, Erolfa are also refreshing.

The "citruses" such as Duoro, Dior's Eau de Sauvsage, Creed's Cedrat to say nothing of C&S or Creed's Neroli are also winners to many.

I tend to go and have a citrus week, using QED's Wild Orange shaving stick for the week (maybe throw in some Grapefruit/Peppermint) and then Spieck AS and then rotate one of the many citruses available. Next week would be oceanics or vetivers, depending how hot it is. Or go straight to the beach week of Bay Rums and Creed's Virgin Island Water, which does not smell *just* like coconut because it does still have that Creed house note to give it an air of sophistication (though the drydown does get tiresome on me).

Trafalgar is also one worth trying; it's unique and amazing to me.

Are vetivers a "summer scent?" To me, more fall, but ok. Guerlain is a very clean crisp scent that I never tire of. Floris Vetiver is "darker" to me.

Floris Santal is a magical summer scent to many here. It has a sweet note that is (to me) similar to Endymion but not quite as cloying, making it good for warm weather whereas Endy is good for cooler or nights.

I hope that gives you some guidance. For more direction, search for my post about citrus scents and see the many well-informed responses I got.
