Gentlemen,
With the warm weather setting in, I have switched to mostly lighter, especially citrus-noted aftershaves. Ordinarily I use Spanish Leather by Trumpers and Truefitt & Hill, Tabac, Caswell-Massey No. 6, Taylor of Old Bond Street No. 74 Victoria Lime, Proraso, Pashana Cologne, Florida Water, Pinaud's Clubman and Woods of Windsor.
Today I used Truefitt & Hills Spanish Leather and it felt quite heavy, although I love the stuff.
For the rest of the summer, therefore, or as long as the warm weather lasts, I plan to give the heavier aftershaves a rest. Instead I will go with following:
1. Taylor's No. 74 Victoria Lime: a light and delightful pairing with the hot weather.
2. Caswell-Massey's No. 6: also a light and delightful fragrance with top notes of citrus.
3. Proraso: a cool refresher. Once my half bottle is gone, however, I'll retire the fragrance.
4. Florida Water: the lightest of the group, with a clean and soft fragrance.
5. Pinaud's Clubman: good smell, and soft when used in moderation, especially for the summer.
6. Woods of Windsor: a soft and clean smell that I find delightful all year.
7. Tabac: a clean and soapy fragrance, and it can stay so if applied lightly in the summer.
There are several others that I have not mentioned, all designers I were given as gifts, and I plan to keep those for colder weather until they run out, if I'm so lucky.
So, gentlemen, that's what I think, for what it's worth. A good shave topped by a clean aftershave for the summer is like dipping a toe in heaven. Enjoy.
