Uh oh!...... something in a box was waiting at my front door when I arrived home today!

Hidden inside were the goodies that I somehow managed to win during the Sue Moore Auction this year. And I'm NOT a smoker!

I did a bunch of reading on the Falcon while the auction was going on and the ability to disassemble sounding pretty intriguing as did the design of the stem to prevent a hot smoke. The bowl comes off with a nice easy twist of 90 degrees, but seems to lock in place firmly enough.

Now I need to do three things:
- get some baccy
- get some lighter fluid for the Zippo
- get some courage to let SWMBO know I have a pipe.

Methinks the last will be the most difficult. :blush:

In the spirit on not allowing James to enable me :001_tongu , I went out to a smoke shop and made my first purchase in MANY years....

Because the pipe came international, it was best for the package not to contain lighter fluid or tobacco. The first for "well, duh!" reasons and the latter to not give customs any additional reasons to levy surcharges.

Outside of a few pipe cleaners and the lighter fluid, I went into the smoke shop and asked for help from the husband and wife owners, a nice Korean couple probably in their late '50, early '60s. I explained how I had just acquired a pipe and was looking for a nice cherry blend as well as a nice mild "normal" tobacco, wanting just enough tobacco for a few bowls of each to try out.

They spent about 15 minutes with me, letting me sniff a bunch of stuff and, in the end, they recommended Mr. B's Wild Cherry and Morning Pleasure as my two 'baccys to start with. As they measured out the tobacco, they were looking to me to say "when" on the amount, but I asked them to use their judgement on what would be good for 2-4 bowls of each. Came to ~$19 and they were surprised when I told them to keep the change from the $20 and that, if I liked pipe smoking, they would be seeing more of me.

if james doesnt get the enable...then i guess the enable goes to the sue moore charity auction?

no way,... Sam can say what he wants but he has brought up my pipe smoking a couple of times,... this was just a slow burn secret enable that just came to fruition

im taking credit no matter what he says

plus I have a twsbi for him to play with lol

James loves Sam enough that he wants Sam's SWMBO to break up with him so they have time to smoke together. I think this was the most heartfelt (and perhaps stalker-ish :tongue_sm) enable ever. Way to be, James...way to be...

But seriously, nice fish you caught, regardless of what Sam says (or thinks) :biggrin1:

syngent used to make all kinds of nice rambling posts about taking doggies out for evening walks and picking up their doo-doo while puffing on a pipe. Plus, you have to admit that his pics were pretty cool. They did get me thinking about pipes, but just a small seed waaaaay in the back of my little mind. Actually, it was more along the lines of reminiscing about an old pipe-smoking friend than about smoking one myself.

So, yes, he did have a hand in events leading up to my bidding on the auction. There was another (much cheaper!) pipe auctioned that I steadfastly refused to bid on as I thought it was one syngent had offered up, just to deny him the enable. Yeah, I'm evil that way.

I guess it is up to you boys if you want to credit him with the enable. But be careful, it might be a failed enable as I have not yet:
a) filled a bowl,
b) filled my Zippo,
.
and most importantly,
.
c) filled in SWMBO..... but this will happen today.

James' best self-interest would be served if SWMBO never gets any whiff of an idea about an enablement. :a49:
... unless he really doesn't like our cooking and coffee.
