Strop not flat

I bought a new 3" Latigo and I can't do a properly strop because it isn't flat. I've tried pressing my hand and the spine of my razor to flatten it but it's not working. What can I do to fix it? Is this a common problem? I though 3" would make things easier but I ended up using my cheaper 2" Filly with great results.

Have you talked to the vendor? What did they say about it?
I haven't yet that's why I haven't disclosed the retailer. I wanted to get feed back from an independent source first before contacting them. I'm also still on the fence whether I like straight shaving. When I was doing research before purchasing, I remember reading a thread where people were talking about this issue, that 2" strops while requiring you to learn an x pattern stroke, are flat. I ended up going with a 3" when I read positive comments and seeing they were recommended for beginners.

I'm a new shaver and didn't know if it was my technique or the strop needed to be broken in. After a number of weeks I got my technique down with the Filly and realized in comparison the 3" wasn't flattening out. I'm not sure if its uneven tension or just the leather.

Speaking of horse butts…
It certainly looks a bit cupped, it is not the razor.

If it is one of my strops send me a direct email and I'll explain how to fix it quickly and if that does not work I'll send you a replacement piece at no charge. No worries.

If it is someone elses, well, I'll just tell you how to fix it !

Thanks,
Tony
