Straight's on the way!

I just bought my first straight and strop, courtesy of LarryAndro, a fellow forum goer. Now that I've procured a razor, anyone able to point me to some instructional videos on how to use it? I've seen the interactive guide Joel put up, but I figure more is better where this is concerned.

I think Lynn's DVD is the most complete. You can find it on straightrazordesigns.com

It is considerably less expensive than the copay for an acute care center visit, much less that to an ER. :scared: Part of the deal with my wife for getting the razor. Honestly, I'm thinking it will cost less than repairing the damage to it I might cause while operating uneducated.

It's also available in separate parts on Youtube.

The World of Straight Razor Shaving is in. This is 8 sections, 3 1/2 hours of great straight razor information including hones and honing, strops and stropping, shaving demo (hot towel), an intro to mugs, soaps and brushes, ebay buying, cleaning razors, minor restoration including a dremel demo, great resources including books, what to look for in buying a razor, ebay questions, great razors including part of my collection and a bunch of good information.

I see about 30 minutes of the DVD posted on YouTube.

Jockeys were my first entry, great stuff!
Also a nice video by "X", called something like "one handed straight shave"
And Lynns of course.

Joel's vid, on the first page of B&B is a nice, fast intro, very informative & most likely responsible of last weeks "straight craze" over here.
Vendors should give him a percentage :wink2:

Larry is a great guy; he has spent considerable time with me by way of PM on the matter of straights. And I have been checking out his stock lately myself; what did you buy?

Best of luck bro! My first full str8 shave is tomorrow morning...will be starting Scuba's journal afterwards.

Hope it works out for you!
