What's new

Straight user with a noob question about DE maintenance

I typically use and restore straights but found a Slim adjustable and a flair tip that I cleaned up. I was just wondering if it is advisable or necessary to oil them and if so the best way to do so?

Thanks.

Most DE razors are made to operate smoothly without any lubrication. If they feels sticky or gunked up them give them a long bath in hot soapy dishwater.

Some folks dip them in mineral if the can't free them up with a hot soapy bath/soaking. But the were built to run dry.

Excellent thank you. They open and close very smooth but the slim adjustable part is a little tight but then I din't know how tight they are supposed to be in the first place. I soaked them in soapy water overnight and cleaned them with a tooth brush and then again with scrubbing bubbles. The flair tip looks almost new but the slim is a bit pitted but looks very usable.
