Straight Razors Obliterate Beards

When I have had a beard in the past, when I was ready to shave it off I would use a trimmer first before I used one of my straight razors. Today I only used my Filarmonica straight razor, and the razor simply obliterated the beard. I have seen YouTube videos of guys shaving their beards just with their straight razors, even though mine wasn't as long as theirs. Now I must admit, besides having a truly sharp razor, I also did a true barbershop shave prep first to soften the beard. Hot towel over lather, Proraso Pre-Shave Cream, lather again.

I got moves like Jagger
Here's my pics (no vid though). The shave wasn't very clean at the end I think the blade needed a better edge than I had put on it. Plus I was learning (still am, actually)

Yeah, the straights are great for that. My first shave with a straight was with a weeks growth, it just ate it up. Last week I shaved my head which had been buzzed about 2 weeks previously. When it comes to mowing down growth nothing beats a straight!

That's one reason I really like using a straight, I don't need/really want to shave every day. Usually do about every 3 or 4. I get some substantial growth in that time, enough to clog a Mach 5 in less than an inch of shaving area. Discovering straight razor shaving was the best thing ever to overcome my beard.
