straight razor ID

my co-worker was doing some housework and apparantly found a straight razor hidden behind one of the walls. looks like the previous occupant used it for work around the house.

anyway, it has a black handle; one side of the blade says SHUMATE 850...the other side says SHUMATE RAZOR / ST LOUIS, USA.

any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

sorry, no pics. he brought it in to work and thought I might want it, but since i'm not into shaving with a straight I thought i'd mention here to see if anyone knew anything about it. I guess i'm wondering what year it was manufactured
