Totally greased up but in great shape. No corrosion on the blades and only minimal Devil's Spit in the pivots. Not even sure if they've ever seen a stone... So stoked just to even own them.
Congratulations! I am sure that you will make an excellent custodian of them until they are passed along to someone in your next generation. Just use and enjoy them while you have them.

I finally found a Blue Diamond straight razor that was in good condition with the "diamond" still blue and without any apparent damage.

That sounds easy to do but I haven't found that to be the case. This one hasn't arrived yet but it appears to be good.

Now that I look at the picture it doesn't look so blue but they usually fade to a transparent color and this looks dark. We'll see

A very special mail call today. A new Ralf Aust razor with natural NOS MK32 scales from the Heljestrand factory in Sweden. Also a set of NOS tortoise shell scales destined for an MK30. These have been hiding away in a drawer since the close of the factory and are in perfect shape.

This razor has been some time in the making. The quality of fit and finish is perfect as always from Ralf. The scales are quite chunky compared to my set of MK31’s. The ivory is exceptionally clean with very fine Schräger lines. It makes a very handsome salt and pepper set with my existing African Blackwood razor. I went with a 6/8” blade to be true to the width of the intended MK32. I think this was the right call as the proportions are perfect. The African Blackwood razor is 5/8” and I may get a matching 6/8” in the future. I originally requested jimps but these were somehow missed. Originally I was a little upset by this. Given the nature of the piece, I don’t want to be shipping it around the world any more than necessary. Luckily, I have now grown to like the sleek jimpless look. In use, I actually can’t tell any difference in grip unless I’m liking for it. I’m absolutely stoked to have add this one to the collection.

I may set this one aside for my first born son that was born 5 weeks ago. I got a stainless steel blade so it should be in good shape for a long time to come. I’m confident that this one will shave a few Lambrecht faces in its time.

Pretty good haul this week...
Gotta love when you throw a lowball bid in before you go to bed then wakup to find you won a near mint Fili DT12! Oh and pun intended since this 13/16 Gotta was thrown in with another cheepo razor like it was nothing.

AND THEN to top it off... Maybe some of you fleabay lurkers missed it, but I sure as heck did not miss this MASSIVE unicorn! The top part of the stamp has been worn but there is only one thing it could possibly even be. Savage & sons was only around for a few years back in the mid 1800's I believe, but they made great work of that Sheffield steel.

I think pretty soon I'm going to have to start clearing out some of the finished pieces to make room for the new. I dunno though, why do I feel like I'm becoming hoarder?

I tried for straigjts but they had just been bought out. Had only 1 with a dime size chunk right out the middle of the blade :(

It was extremely hard to find one in good condition. It took me over a year, and got one from a member here. I was watching this one you got and there is one more on ebay that is in good condition. I was really surprised how freaking hard it was to find one. Glad you found one. They do shave great. I'm so happy I finally got one myself.

Ask me about shaving naked!
@Polarbeard alert! Seven Engstroms, Dannemora steel. I’m not sure if they’re engraved with the days, but the price was right and the steel is in good condition. The scales on a couple are going to need some TLC though. I’ve always been partial to Swedish and French framebacks, so these are a nice score for me. They can be a royal pain to hone though, if the steel is super hard. Vendor’s images.

I’m off to Amazon to buy extra Kapton, lol.

Those are first class razors in a condition seldom seen. Actually the fact that the etching seems to be totally intact on mot of them indicate that those razors are unused. Etching on Swedish razors weren't made to last, but as a verification to the buyer that the razors were unused.

As often before I can't but wonder how such things can happen, how razors can be untouched for so long time. The razors must be about 130 years old. My guess is that someone kept them as a memory of a loved father that had passed away for the perhaps the first 30 or even 40 years. After that the last people who actually knew the first owner most likely were gone themselves, but still someone kept them untouched and another one after that. That is up until now when you've broken the seal of the time capsule. The razors must have been the first owners pride many years ago and I'm totally certain that he would have loved to know that they one day would end up in the hands of a man that would appreciate them like you do.
Congratulations Steve
