Straight Razor Acquisition Thread

This early Greaves just came in the mail today. Had I known it had an etching, I'd have paid extra for this one. ..seems to think it knows me. :biggrin1:
1820's-30's maybe? If you have any ideas about the history behind this, I'd love to hear it.

Very nice score! congrats

Hi
Found these during a garage clearance. Any ideas of age?
I intend to get them restored and use them, is that possible/likely?
Can post more photos if it’s helpful.
Thanks
I'd say that they both seem to be in excellent condition. They need cleaning, polishing and honing, but that's about it.

I had a twofer last night. Two new things in one shave.
A good friend of mine is a potter, and we had a brief discussion about shaving mugs. He brought this one over to me yesterday morning.
A few weeks ago I ask Sergej to make me a 6/8. It arrived yesterday afternoon.

Sergej’s edges give a new meaning to the term “shave ready”, they’re phenomenal!

Had my eye on a couple of Japanese razors and decided to pull the trigger on one. The following day I got a message from the seller stating Japan post are not accepting mail to Ireland and he would unfortunately have to cancel the sale.

After a few messages back and forth I found Japan post will send to the UK. I purchased the razor and got it sent to a forwarding facility in the UK for further shipping to Ireland.

I collected the package on Saturday but have only just finished honing it. I shall try a shave tomorrow, but I am yet to find a japanese straight I haven't liked.

It is a Pechika yasuki steel (hitashi) razor.
