Polished up this J.R. Torrey Diamond Edge while watching a webinar. I love the scrollwork scales and the “blood groove,” can’t remember the technical term for the razor being thinned in the middle like a faux frame back, but not all the way down. Razor is from that huge lot as well. View attachment 1142310View attachment 1142311

Side note, just noticed this is my 4,001st post!
Well if I look at the razors you acquired we can except 4000 more posts

Gents,

These are Ramapo Warranted straight razors made in New Jersey from steel associated with William Gilchrist sometime between 1851 and 1861. They are both just shy of 7/8, and are full wedge.

I am really excited to acquire these, because I believe that they will make fantastic shavers once honed, and also because the scales are made out of real tortoise shell! These are my first razors with authentic tortoise scales.

They should arrive next week!

They look amazing! Congratulations!!

Finished cleaning and honed up the LeClerc from my Birthday spree. Wore down the frown on 400 diamond, bevel set on Shapton 4000 and the rest on my little coticule. I haven't met with a lot of success using that, but this one is really popping arm hair and I'm psyched to use it later.

Why are there so many unhappy French straights?
