Straight Razor Acquisition Thread

I did shave with it after touching it up on the Shapton M5 12k. Really nice shave. The blade feels longer than my other blades. The inserts on the Tang are odd. I'm thinking about possibility of rust developing in-between. But overall I love the razor.

Command No. 68 (Tanifuji)...finding the stylized script inlay on its scales very appealing:

"Look what I found"
A nice “little” monkey tail score. A William H.De Pew “The Perfect Razor". I first thought it was a corn or mustache razor. Research tell me that this is the actual size. A 2 inch, 5/8, 1/2 hollow shaver with a French tip.

Very nice Command, Mark. Tanifuji razors are wonderful shavers.

Nice De Pew, Tim. I'm looking forward to hearing about how it shaves.

Pulled trigger on this one, great seller hoping that the oxidation is not too deep. Sellers photo.View attachment 1015127

And also I could be wrong (idk if the scales are cellulose) maybe it’s just the pic. But you see that discoloration on scale it lines up perfect with the rust just be careful it’s not from gassing

Was thinking the exact thing will have to see what going on there worse case scales gotta go... Actually worse case blade is shot in that area... If not then I'm good. I really don't care about keeping original scales unless they are in very good order If they are I will try my best to salvage them. If not I will put stabilized wood scales on her.

Thought I had my RAD sort of under control until this Filarmonica 14

became available. Took a very nice edge off of a translucent Ark. Think I will push it a little further with balsa strops.

Toyo Scheön Burg 777; this blade sports an extremely narrow bevel that’s fractionally the width of the grind lines. One of the rare occasions where use of a 10x triplet left my eyes strained:

My last bday present to myself and last RAD purchase for at least 5 months. Finally a Wade to work with...sellers image. Should be here 1 day before my birthday..

My 7/8 Greis & Co Solingen showed up today! So stoked about this one, she came to me almost flawless and with a factory edge no hone wear at all. Only did 3 things to her honed her, stroped her and tightened the pivot! Test shave tomorrow instead of Torrey Tuesday.
