Keep your eyes on this thread What's on your work bench right now?

C.V. Heljesrand Mk. 31 arrived yesterday. Sad to say it is not quite up to par. Needs repinned since the pivot has so much slop that the blade likes to close outside the scales... Contacted Larry at Whipped Dog for repairs and honing before I play with it.

"Look what I found"
I know this is not a a SR, but most will recognize the name. A NOS counter top display of Wade & Butcher DE blades. W&B DE safety razors were marketed and sold in the early 1900s. Just wanted to share this rare and exciting find of a familiar name

"Look what I found"
A nice score of two fine German blades, a Dorko #60 and a Revisor from the days of C. Friedr. Schmidt. The Dorko is 13/16 and the Revisor is 5/8, both round tip. Do not know if they are original, the Revisor has nice translucent green scales with inlay. Both have etched blades. The etch, in French on the Dorko translates to "The hairdressers favorite" and the Revisor is etched " Best Silver Steel Solingen". I will give them a good home.

Great score on some really nice razors!!

Thanks. I left a few behind from the seller. I did leave dishearten with a tear in the eye. Seller had a Bartmann 504 High Class with the highly worked spine. The spine was beautiful but everything below was completely rusted out. There was a hole in the middle of the 7/8 blade. What a loss!!!

My guess is celluloid rot, so be glad that you didn't find it when it just had started.

Frankly I'm not too proud of myself. I tried not too, but SRAD is a strong force. Just say I lost the grip of myself and went on a shopping spree. At least these days I seldom make a bad buy.

an 8/8 San Mai near wedge with Elm scales accompanied by a Damascus mini straight razor with Ebony scales. Only picked up today, so yet to shave with either of them, but really looking forward to trying out the mini.

Thank you

I agree it was in the last stages of cell rot. I will keep a eye on the two I got but I think I will be safe. Modern acrylic on the Dorko and I will keep an eye on the Revisor being scales are translucent

Love the spine, beautiful razor

An Ed Brice custom smiling straight. 7/8, English Oak scales with inlaid abalone dots, 6000 yr old bog oak wedge, inlaid emerald, mirror finish with rusticated spine and tang.

I just picked this up from Ed this morning and you could not meet a nicer, more genuine guy. He loves what he is doing and has only just gone full time. If you are after a custom straight, give him a bell. He is also starting to make brushes too and from what he was showing me this morning, these will be equally high quality.
