Fridays are Fishtastic!
You know, pipes are relaxing- ordering Penzance is not. Talk about your two minute offense- I was scrambling like a mad man

Penzance is now out. My wife asked me if I needed to order another one. The limit is one, so I went to pipesandcigars.com and ordered And So To Bed, more Frog Morton, and a leather pipe rest. When the wife says "go" I go.

On edit: my order was confirmed- my first successful Penzance score.

You are lucky, usually when my wife says "go" she is meaning something else... you know, like spending the night in the bathtub, due to one of my "crazy expenditures".

I get lucky every once and a while. It helps that she spent $150 on the stepdaughter last week.

mmm, I have to get me a stepdaughter!

:biggrin1:

But seriously brother, I am glad you got to order some sweet Penzance, cheers!

I can give you mine

And thanks, it was exciting.

On edit: for once, being sick paid off. I have been sick the last couple of days, and called off work. Were I not sick, I would have been driving to work when this happened.

I wonder if they'll hit the other online retailers within the next few days. This recent spike in Penzance and Stonehaven availability is both encouraging and worrisome. On the one hand, it's got me wondering if somehow Germain has found a way to increase production to at least try to better meet the outrageous demand for these products. On the other hand, I worry that the blends might suffer as a result of increasing production, for instance, the base blending tobacccos not being able to age as much due to pressure to get the blends pumped out and on the shelves.

Hopefully they stick by quality, and not give in to demand.

I have the same concern Karl, I guess we will find out pretty soon if that's the case.

I still remember that after the infamous "Full Virginia Flake Scare of 2011", many smokers mentioned that the Samuel Gawith Company never achieved the same quality ever again, I believe Escudo suffered from the same accusation, we will see brother, we will see.

Come to think of it, other than a couple samples of Penz and Stone I had last year, I don't have a point of reference to compare old stuff to the more recent batches I was able to get ahold of. I fell hard for the "newer" Stonehaven, so even if it has suffered a slight decrease in quality (subjective anyways), it doesn't really matter to me. Same goes for FVF and Escudo. Along with Stonehaven, these two blends make up my gold, silver and bronze medalists, and since I was only introduced to them in July 2012, I have no idea how amazing they used to be. I only know how great they are now and am actually thankful I wasn't around the scene to try them "back in the day."

But in general, I do agree with you guys and hope Germain chooses quality over quantity.

BTW, Owen, eyes on mail... good stuff incoming.
