Stirling collapsible shaving bowls

May need to get one on restock day as don’t have shaving bowl since breaking my current one. Not sure if I can get one before and remain in GRUME. One for the mods I think

I picked one up today as a travel bowl for my overnights while on duty. It does a great job whipping up a lather compared to what I use at home. I may grab a 2nd to use at home on a daily basis.

Bought one during my first year of wet shaving because I thought that's how one built lather (loaded from a puck in an Old Spice Mug, built lather in a bowl and applied), and it worked well enough, but seems to waste lather as it's hard to dig out that last bit of lather out. Then in the normal course of events I tried face lathering, preferring the feel of building lather on my face, and decided to cut out that intermediate step and haven't used it since.

Have you tried a stick? I’m assuming you want the collapsible bowl for travel?

Much easier to me, but, I love my Arko sticks. You can get a nice twist-up container from Shave Nation.

Not the same. I’m referring to a shaving soap stick. You rub it on a wet face, brush lather, and shave. Tons of guys on here like Arko or Tabac. You can try Arko for like $2 on Amazon. I put it in a container; perfect for travel or home use.

In the past few years, YAQI has launched a new product based on a similar concept.
It’s also a silicone folding bowl, but it references the Captain’s Choice design on the bottom.
Therefore, it is a good reference for fans who like Stirling bowl/dog bowl/Captain...

Its concave and convex texture is relatively shallow, so it won’t have the crazy stirring effect of a slow feeder dog bowl; but it is relatively friendlier to the brush and reduces the burden on the wrist.

Ask me about shaving naked!
I use one all the time with the nubs in the bottom (slow feeder bowl). The nubs work the knot and work better than the plain bowls, but can be hard on the knot if you push hard. The idea is to just use the nubs to flick the tips of the brush. Of course, if you have a cheap boar or synth, you can lather with gusto.

But yes, they’re good. Cheap, light, and they work.
