What's new

Still at it!!! Just finished my 5th Brush - Looking for helpful feedback

I was at it again this afternoon -I have completed my 6th brush - perhaps only my 3rd over all accepted brush...Lol
This time I think it is a very nice looking piece....perhaps it is still missing qualities that some look for in a brush - But in my opinion you just can't get much better then the theme I have going on this one.
I am not familiar enough with the ruling on posting photos or the actual link to the eBay page I have it listed for auction on. So if someone could let me know I would be happy to get the information posted so long as it did not go against in rules - otherwise I guess the only thing I could recommend is to look back at the threads that do have some links posted then navigate eBay through visiting my store and finding the new brush just listed

I have been talking with several members here at B&B and am very grateful for the advice and help that has been offered
It's a learning process and I think it is coming along alright - I am always open to learning something new.

Thanks - Please let me know what you think of the brush - or - at least its handle!!!! That’s the best part!
Be Well

You can't link to a live auction. If you have a buy-it-now listing, you can link to it. Otherwise you can use the attachment upload tool to post pics of the brush outside of the context of the auction. I'd love to see it!

Nice brush. With shoulders that wide on the handle, I would consider a larger diameter knot, though. 22mm perhaps?

Agreed. It'll look fuller when the knot blooms, but yeah. I agree. You'll develop an eye for that kind of stuff though. We see it immediately because we're huge nerds who stare longingly at shaving brushes all day long.

I have a white, red and blue bases still around the shop.
along with a couple of Silver Tip 24mm left
If I made a similar shape would the 24mm sit well in the handle?
Oh yeah what about a color preference?

It'd be pretty easy online to look at the ranges of the top brush manufacturers to develop a sense of shape and proportion, both visually and from posted dimensions. Think of it as building up a 'classical foundation.'

It'd also be good to start using a brush yourself--with both soaps and creams--if you don't already. Besides being key to great shaves, it's a no-brainer for you as a brushmaker. Would you trust a mechanic who didn't know how to drive?

Lastly, it'd be worthwhile to search the site and/or check out the posts from the resident brush gurus. For example, one member/artisan did a great comparison of different-sized knots set in handles at different heights to show the differences this makes to the shape of the brush. I imagine a reference like that'd be hugely useful.

You've come a long way quickly with what feels like a scattershot approach. Why not focus and take control?

Good luck.
