Stetson Anyone?

My wife showed me the new Good Housekeeping that showed up today with Tom Brady in a promotion of Stetson. Way different bottle from what I remember but I cant remember the scent. I don't know if she was showing me the promo because I reminder of Tom Brady:lol: or to try it.

Anyone use it or recommend it?

No, just like the Brut Revolution it was turned into a bathroom air freshener...

Luca Turin likes it. Have not tried it.

EDIT: If LT (the scent critic and writier) likes something that is usually enough to grab my attention. And as to relatively inexpensive scents, such as Stetson, if he likes it, in my experience he is onto something. I forget whether he gave Stetson 4 stars or 5 stars. If he had given it 3 stars, it would have stood out to me. Before I read that rating, Stetson was not on my radar at all. I remember when it came out (when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I know). I do not think it was every pitched as very exlcusive.

I have the orignal/classic in Aftershave & cologne. It is a strong and lasting scent for the money. I use it during the week preceded by Col Conk AMber shave soap, so its not aSunday or formal fragrance for me.

FWIW, I just got Luca Turin's book out of the local library, and Stetson indeed rates 4 stars - but not from LT, from his co-author Tania Sanchez. I assume that LT at least checked it out and agreed (or at least didn't disagree too badly) with her review.

Interestingly, Ms. Sanchez calls it "... a crisp, feminine oriental in the style of Tabu and Youth Dew, with that classic Coca-Cola brightness, an animalic jasmine to fill it out, and powdery, leathery balsamic woods to finish... as rugged and masculine as the lingerie level at Saks Fifth Avenue..." and goes on to say that she wears it herself. Guess you've got to be very confident in your masculinity to pull off Stetson after a review like that, huh?:001_unsur

A little bit out of context but considering the cross-over scents she describes, I'm not too surprised...or worried. I liked it when I was twenty-something and it's still nice today.

Good catch that this was TS not LT. It might make a difference. At onr point in a review of another scent she refers to our beloved Stetson and it is frequently said in articles that "they" like Stetson, but who knows what it really needs.

What TS says would not discourage me from wearing it!

The authors indicate that if they strongly disagreed, they would each post their ratings and comments. I only recall seeing that on one frag, but it is there, so apparently LT didn't strongly disagree.

For my 2 cents, I was pleased with their opinion, as I enjoy wearing Stetson, and now don't have to feel like it's a "guilty pleasure". Although I don't mind a few guilty pleasures!

I liked the "Untamed" version, but I must have been the only one on the planet because it appears to be discontinued.

As far as I can tell, a scent being discontinued means virtually nothing. It sure is no comment on the quality of a scent.
