Hi guys, i have been offered a towel steamer including six new towels and tongs. It is brand new and retails at £75 but i have been offered it for £25. Has anyone had a shave using a steamed towel? Maybe in a salon or something? I usually just wash with warm water after having a bath or shower and then lather up. Would it be worth me giving this towel steamer a try? I have zero knowledge on steamed towels, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Wow, I didn't know the steamers were still commercially available. I've been toying with the idea of steaming towels in the microwave. I'll be watching to see how this turns out...
At that price it is worth playing around with for a little while. I don't think you could get hur too bad if you decided you didn't like it and needed to sell it.
Personally I use the microwave. Dampen towel (wring as dry as I can get it). Into the microwave for (45 seconds I think.... been a while).
If someone offered me a towel steaming cabinet for under $50 I am sure I could not turn it down.....

I've had the hot towel treatment in the barbershop, and its great, very relaxing. I've replicated the scenario at home in the microwave, but its just too much extra in the morning when i'm trying to get around. If I had a steamer it might be worth the effort... I'd say go for it.

I just tested an old food steamer i have lying around. I had it on high steam for 10 mins and then keep warm for 10 and the result was great. Best shave in ages. Add to that some sort of essential oil, maybe sandalwood or even vicks and its wonderful! I am going to buy it at this low price tomorrow. Being new and including towels i guess you guys are right that i cant go wrong. I will keep you posted.

Just rinse towel in hot water, ring all the water out and nuke it.
