What's new

Steak & Potatoes kinda guy.

Don't do steak too often because it's just so dang expensive. But for my birthday, it's T-Bones & Porter Houses for the house. Pair that with 2x Baked potatoes, and grilled Asparagus... Mmmm Mmmm...

What do the rest of you do for your birthday meal?

Usually I'm a strict meat and vegies kind of diet at home but on my birthday which is tomorrow I'm going out to eat for a really nice dinner then home for a few local growler micro-brew beers. Yea T-bones are my favorite steaks!

The growler is a great idea... I might have to treat myself w/ one from a local micro!

My goto b-day meal is a little restaurant/pub a few blocks from my house. 12 oz butter soft filet mignon cooked medium rare with asparagus that is still somewhat crunchy on the side. All washed down with a Jack Daniels Manhattan (or two).

Birthday meal is usually out.
Often get a fish dish - I love trout or a nice moist branzino if they're on the menu.
Kanella's in Philly for Cypriot dining was one of my best and most memorable. Fish ribs (pacu) were excellent.

I like to put a nice couple of racks of baby backs on the ugly drum smoker. I use a seasoning I get from a local spice shop that works really well and add some brown sugar over the top. Let those go for about 2 hours at ~225 degrees uncovered then I wrap them in foil and let them go another 2-3 hours depending on size.

When I hit the half-century mark in July it's either going to be a visit to a local Brazilian churrascaria, or prime-grade rib-eyes from Costco on the Weber kettle, over mesquite and oak coals.
Add to that some crispy-style potatoes and bottles of Mexican Coke on ice and I'm all good!

My usual B-day meal is pizza. Christmas Day is the big feast around here. Usually a 7lb prime rib roast slow cooked until med rare, fried honey corn, garlic mashed potatoes, and roasted asparagus. Along with home made cornbread and dinner rolls.

I like to think myself a bit of a gourmand, but if you get a quality bit of red meat, season it and cook it properly (even better get someone else to do that bit while you have a slurp), it's bloody hard to beat.

I usually do bone in ribeyes and baked potatoes. I think next birthday I am going to finally break down and check out Bob's Steak and Chop House
