Hello everyone. I am beginning to obtain repeatable shaves time and time again. I can use the same razor and blade but change my soap from VDH to Irish Moos and get the same close shave. I can not however change my blade and obtain the same shave time after time. Does this mean that my technique is getting better? I am starting to get really good lathers now as well. I am face lathering with the softest brush I have which is an Ever Ready handle with a synthetic knot. I am really enjoying the Feather blades, go figure.

Good for you. Now just keep doing what your doing. Watch how fast things keep getting better. 
Same here. The only variable that negatively affects my shave is the blade. I use a number of soaps and creams on a whim/time available and they're all very good.
I went through a period of thinking Feathers were my main blade, but they just aren't comfy enough for a 3 pass for me. And they only last me 3 or so shaves.
Now I'm sticking with Red IP and Treet orange, the results are excellent.

Congratulations! I have after 10 months of str8 shaving gone back to DEs exclusively. I am getting better more consistent shaves no matter which razor or which blade. The only difference I find in blades is smoothness and comfort. Not shave quality.
