What's new

Started P90X today

I had my sister burn me a copy of P90X. I plan on starting the program on Monday but thought I would give one a try today. I tried out the Core Synergenics dvd. It was pretty tough but overall pretty good. I'm looking forward to trying the other ones.

Tony is kind of a D-bag :001_rolle, kept calling a lady who's name was Pam, Blam because she "brings it". I see there is an option to turn off the sound...which may have to happen after I watch these videos a few times.

Anyone have success with this program? Any tips? Also is the ab ripper X on a separate dvd? I cant find it in the stacks of dvds I have.

I did P90X about 2 years ago. I was happy with the results. Ab Ripper is on all of the strength training dvd's. Just let them keep playing and it should start. My advice would be to really watch your diet. If you're diet isn't spot on you won't get the type of results you may be expecting. Be realistic and do you're best and don't skip Yoga X. Good luck!

I'm 2 weeks in to doing P90X. So far I have lost about 4 pounds. From what I have seen so far, you can make the routines easy or hard depending on how hard you try.

What are your goals? It's not a bad program but it's not the best.
Better than nothing thats for sure, and I guess pretty decent for those who don't have access to any equipment.

Excellent to know thanks.

I did the entire lean program for the full 90 days. Don't skip anything. The program works well if you stick with it.

The diet isn't bad either.

I lost 36 lbs and haven't stopped working out.

A good set of bands, if you don't have any is made by Bodylastics.

Im trying to cut down some weight. Im 28 yoa 5'9, 200lbs. Have a little bit of a beer gut. :001_rolle Im a big lifter though so alot of my weight is muscle.

Got these dvds for free thought I would give it a try. Kinda getting bored with my routine and figured I could get some new exercises/ideas to spice up my workout. I will probably goto the gym and do cardio(to justify keeping my membership) there instead of the pilometrics/cardio X etc, but well see.

I think the hardest part for me is going to be the diet. I love beer too much. Plus since they are burned dvds. I don't have any info on the diet. I assume I can find it online somewhere just haven't looked for it yet. Im gonna try to eat as healthy as I can and do a cheat meal/day one day of the week.

It'll definitely help. Nutrition is going to be huge if you're wanting to lean out though.

I have begun the first day of the P90x too.... Im doing the lean program and have incorporated my own diet using the calorie count as per the program..

I've done some of the workouts from both P90X and CrossFit, but I've never stuck with either exclusively. As far as success goes, I have a friend who dropped 100lbs in 5 months with P90X. He was a sloppy 5' 10" 285lbs going into it and is now a solid 185 after.

I tried doing it, but listening to Tony Horton talk literally made me angry and want to hit something.

The man is very very annoying.

If you want a good way to watch what you eat I would suggest signing up for myfitnesspal.com . Its free and has most foods (including restaurant food) programmed in it so you can accurately keep track of your intake.

Have done P90X in the past, love the AB ripper X. Good program but I prefer crossfit. Going online to see the daily workout is part of the routine and helps keep me motivated.

Diet is the key to any workout program. Less calories + exercise = weight loss. You can try the Protein this or that diet but in the end you will have success if you cut calories. I use a little pocket size book that lists the calories for most everything. If you are willing to put up with some pain and can keep your daily count to around 1000 calories then you will drop weight very quickly. Keeping it off is the hard part...

That's what I hit during the week and no carbs. Light workouts here and there helps keep that weight down.

I started it a few months ago and it is a great program if you can stick with it. The hardest part for me was finding time for it - you need at least 1.5 - 2 hours per day to do it right. I just could not fit it into my schedule consistently and once my baby daughter arrived, I had to put it on-hold. Once things get back to normal, I will be re-starting it. For now, I try to do 30 minutes on treadmill and that's about it.

Anyone knows a good program with 30 - 60 minutes per day max?
