Star Trek Wine

$Star-Trek-Wine.jpg

Trekkies are sometimes known to get into heated debates about the classic Star Trek series, specifically which episode was the best. Of course there are a few episodes that always show up in every discussion: “The Trouble with Tribbles,” “Mirror Mirror,” and “The City on the Edge of Forever.” In order to pay homage to these great episodes, Vinport created a series of Star Trek wines featuring labels designed by artist Juan Ortiz. The wine comes from the Viansa Winery in Sonoma, California and contains a special blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Dolcetto, and Tinta Cao. You can order the wines individually, grab a sampler, or pick up an entire case. Then you can continue debating over a bottle—which might make the discussion calmer or crazier, depending on how your friends handle their wine.

I guess this sums it up:

Nope, put Star Wars on it and I'm in. Down with Star Trek.

Interesting poll idea though. Just to see where everyone lines up on the SW vs ST battle.

Take a crappy bottle of wine, slap a trendy label on it, and you've got a modern business plan.

+1

Usually, those bottles are way overpriced for what you get. You pay for the label. It could be good but still overpriced.

What else comes to mind? The Gérard Depardieu winery, Francis Ford Coppola winery, the AC/DC wine... Etc.

Saurian brandy

I believe they used an old George Dickel bottle for that particular beverage.

And, no I am neither a Star Trek nor Star Wars nerd (though both are fine in small doses). But I used to have that bottle--full and then empty. The empty currently resides with an old roommate of mine in Southern California.

Oh my God!! This is lower than Iron Maiden beer. What are these people thinking?! Would you buy a product cause it has a famous and unrelated name?
