Star safety razor with spring loaded handle?

I thought I had seen a post about a Star safety that had a handle that was spring loaded? Does this sound familiar? I found one in a store and I didn't buy it at the time, but it looked cool so I'm gonna go swoop it up later and post some pics. Can anyone whelp with info or a past link?

Was it something similar to this concept that you're thinking of? (From the September 1947 issue of Popular Science)

I used to love reading the classified ads in Popular Science and Popular Mechanics in the 1950s, and I just kept on reading page after page of them just now from Google.

Thanks for the recollection!

The closest one is the one Mac posted. I'll be buying very soon when the store opens and will share it shortly after.

Ah, that's not the correct handle. It belongs to some other razor.
I believe that handle is supposed to spin, for rinsing or something. I'll try to look it up.

So if you twist the handle it put it under tension, there is a button on bottom you press in and the top spins. $IMG_20121118_110648_391.jpg

Oh! That's a different kind of "spring loaded" altogether! Yeah, that's an aftermarket handle that spins the head to dry the blade. I think it was called something like the Klenz-o-Matic. I'll see if I can turn up a reference.

Yes, it's called a Whirly.

From wait's compendium... "Stair Mfg. Co. (Carlyle B. Stair), Chicago, Illinois. Gillette type, wind-up spring in handle spins head to dry. U.S. Patent No. 1600831, 21 Sep 1926, filed 17 Dec 1924, Carl Eugen Lingren, Stockholm, Sweden & Georg Karl Vilhelm Johanson, Skarsatra, Sweden. Also U.S. Patent No. 2044189, 16 Jun 1936, filed 19 Nov 1934, Carlyle B. Stair, Downers Grove, Illinois."
