Star Anise Tea

Hi, I'm a fan of the star anise + chamomile tea. I always used brand-name sachets, but now I cannot find in supermarkets/stores.

I bought some star anise in bulk, but I don't know if I should infuse the whole 'star' or to ground a couple of pieces first.

Any ideas/opinions?

Let's try it and find out. I'm going to boil a bit of water and toss in a star.

I'm going to bet that a bit of a crush will do the trick.

I steeped a single, whole star in 16oz of boiling water After 5 minutes, it had a very mild flavor. After 10, it was a bit stronger and fuller. After 15, it was a still a bit stronger and fuller, and a tiny bit of sweetness showed up.

I certainly see how this blends well with chamomile.

I'll play around a little with 2 stars and maybe with crushing.
