Stainless steel techs

Just curious. Were any techs made of stainless steel? I've seen a couple of later-style techs on ebay that are supposedly made of stainless, yet their finish looks like chrome. Is there any way to determine if a razor is actually made of stainless or not? Thanks for any information you may be able to provide, because it would be nice to get a stainless tech if they do, in fact, exist.

To my knowledge, Stainless Steel Techs were never made. I doubt there was ever any incentive for Gillette to do so, especially not towards the end of the Double Edge Razors life cycle.

The Feather All Stainless as I understand it (having not owned, or used one) is pretty close to being a Stainless Steel Tech though: extremely mild, and shares the same 3 piece safety bar design.

A Polish LUX is about as close as you'll ever come to a stainless Tech. I picked one up for $8, but they are becoming hard to find these days.

A stainless steel Tech would be sweet. I would buy one.

I recommend a Feather AS then. I don't particularly like my Techs, but I bought a Feather AS anyway. They really shave very similarly. The Feather is slightly more aggressive, but not much. It is a lot nicer finished/feeling razor, but it goes together like a Tech, and it shaves a lot like one.

Got a Lux a 2 years ago - good construction for the price but every bit the weenie shave the Tech gives - kind of SUX!!!!

One day I will have one. As soon as I can afford one I'm sure it will be one of my first indulgent purchases. :thumbup1:
