Stainless on RusurPur

Has anybody tried the 6/8 Full Hollow Pro-Straight Razor Stainless Steel from RusurPur? They are under Solingen in the side meny.

http://www.rasurpur.de/english/shop/shop.html

Thinking of getting a straight that I can use in the boat and when traveling where rust is a concern.

I have 4 vintage carbon steel straights so I don't "need" any more of those at the moment. Won't comment on the "want" part:wink:

Cannot comment on that particular razor, but can say that Martin is a top guy, I am sure he will find something that suits your needings!! (and "wantings"!)

Nice workmanlike razors at nice prices. I've bought from Martin before and recommend him highly.

That 6/8 inox in rams horn is calling my name...

Only heard great things about Martin, but was hoping someone had tried the razors:wink2:

Is 58RC a bit soft for a razor? Anybody know which steel they are using? 12C27, N690Co?

My stainless folders are 59 to 65RC and strop up nicely on an older razor strop with CrO..

and people complained about Hart Steel charging so much ?? .

Those prices are in Euros not dollars .

Look at that "new" TI in pink ivory at $375.00 . And their note on color fading . I'll pass

You misconstrued our complaints about the Hart price. It's not that it's too high in absolute terms, because there are razors that are much more expensive that I don't consider to be overpriced, it's that it is overpriced relative to its direct competition.

Looking at those Rasurpur INOX razors I don't see any close matches to the Hart razor, but there is a 6/8 INOX with ebony scales for 115 euro, 96.64 euro without VAT (i.e. the USA price), which according to xe.com is US$142. That's for a 6/8 razor with real ebony scales, not plastic scales, in stainless steel which is usually slightly pricier than carbon for otherwise equivalent razors (Classic sells the Dovo HCS/ebony razor for $135, and the SS/ebony for $146). Despite these advantages, the Rasurpur 6/8 Ebony INOX is US$100 cheaper than the Hart. *That* is why we have been complaining about the Hart price.

As for that TI you mentioned, pink ivory is pretty exotic stuff, hence the high price, and because of that it isn't really a competitor to the Hart or to the low-end INOX Solingens that Martin is selling.
