Squat curls!

I discovered these hellishly awesome things last week and I love them and hate them at the same time. I do them with 10lb dumb bells in reps of 15 and sets of 3 or 4... which isn't much, I know. Something about the compound nature of this exercise kicks my butt though. Especially if I hold the squat for a few seconds. Anybody else do these? Got any similar exercises that use dumb bells in conjunction with some other body weight exercise?

Dumbbell squat and press.

In Crossfit we do these with the olympic bar and dumbbells. Olympic bar movements are called thrusters or snatches (depending on how you're doing the movement), dumbbells are ground-to-overhead. You can also look up clean and jerks, just make sure you do a full squat clean and not a power clean.

And if you like those look up FRAN. :) I think the "record" for someone completing FRAN right now is around 2minutes...Try it out if you can. Just make sure you have an empty bucket and water handy.

Cheers,

M.

Try some thrusters. Basically a squat with a press from the front rack with a bar bell and some weight. This is a killer.

You could do walking lunges with a one handed db press in the down position. Alternate hands each down. So 2 DBs on shoulders, and go.

Deadlift/high pull.

Curl and arnold press.

Squat and lateral raise...

The possibilities are many.

Squat and Press with dumbells or a plate. Lunges between sets. Squat press sets are comprised of 1 minute periods, not number of reps.
