What's new

Speick AS

I just received my Speick and after wearing it for 3 days, I think I have a winner. More importantly SWMBO likes it as well. Very soothing, great scent, wish it would last longer, any suggestions?

There was just another thread about scent longevity. What a coincidence!

I personally think that longevity is a combination of things, mostly the strength of the scent(in the bottle) and your body chemistry. You may want to try and apply it to places where you don't sweat as much, which might help keep the scent around, as it won't evaporate with your sweat...I think.

Since your face does produce natural protective oils, these may also inhibit scent longevity. So putting it on your face is great, as it helps the scent do what it does, and be noticed. But I think applying it to places like the back of your neck and shoulders may help keep subtle hints of the Speick around for a while. I can't say for certain that any of this works, but I do this, and my scents tend to last well into the afternoon. It might be coincidence, but give it a try anyways, and see what you get.

There are a lot of different factors with aftershaves, so hopefully someone can chime in. In any case, keep enjoying that Speick! What a great scent:thumbup1:

You could always try their cologne. I don't own the EdC, but love the AS, so if I'm not wearing a cologne, I'll sometimes rub a little Speick AS in my hands and rub it on my shirt. I think any scent lasts longer on fabric and Speick is light enough to not overpower.

Did you get the splash or the balm? I just got the balm recently and I really like the scent, wasn't sure at first, but it grew on me.

For anybody that has both, and the EdC, do they all smell the same?

Unfortunately, they do not. I don't think the cologne is as bad as some, but it doesn't come close to that fantastic scent in the aftershave.

I'd get the bar soap for the shower instead.

+1 on the bar soap it smells great.

The cologne, unfortunately, does not smell like the AS splash. I love the splash but the cologne is just so so for me.

I have a nearly full bottle of the cologne if anyone is interested feel free to PM me.

Speick as a scent, is unlike anything else I have ever smelled and I wasn't sure about it at first, but it is a fantastic A/S and the scent really grew on me after that initial sniff.

That said, it does seem to fade rather quickly, but I think that part of that is that it is a scent that my nose is more apt to become desensitized to throughout the day. If I feel like being particularly Speicktacular throughout the day, I will also apply it to the back of my neck and also run my still-damp fingers through my hair after application. Your hair actually holds scents pretty well and my give it some added staying power.

Before trying to boost your application, try applying it to your wrist(s) and give it a sniff now and then to get a better idea of how long the scent stays on your skin. You may find that you just aren't smelling it any longer while others still catch a whiff when you are around. I can still pick it up for several hours.

Speick rocks...completely and thoroughly :punk:

Most AS don't linger long for scent, they're not designed as colognes. It does what an AS is supposed to really well though.

The Speick cologne is more citrusy than than the citrus/herbal mix of the AS, but is known to have poor staying power for a cologne, few people seem to get all day linger from it. I probably get a hour or 2.

I find the balm to be a creamier smelling version of the AS.

I've been using Speick ASB last winter and I liked it. As winter came to Prague two weeks ago, I put it on again, but my, I couldn't stand it. Is it possible that your "taste" could change that much?
In the end, I ended with the Olivia Winter balm and I can not praise it enough. Much better, but of course, YMMV.

I get a lot of orange peel from the Speick AS splash (don't know about balm). If you're looking for a scent, Terre d'Hermes is one to check out.

I use both the balm and the AS. Just a very small bit of the balm after the shave followed by the AS. Does a fantastic job!

I use the AS splash and follow it with the balm and it stays around for a while and isn't too strong.. I get a lot of compliments on the Speick. :)
