Specific pipe shapes for certain types of blends?

I have another noob question this week gents. I smoke mostly english blends and have mostly vintage english pipes. My question is: are certain shapes or makers better suited for say, english blends, as opposed to Virginia flakes, as opposed to burley? I know its best to smoke similar styles from the same pipe so theres no ghosting, but I wasn't sure if a Dunhill billiard is designed for english blends and a Tinsky for VaPer flakes, etc etc

Thanks for your thoughts!

Very good question and something I wanted to ask, too!.

Not so much a derail but an addendum: Are different cuts better for different bowl sizes? For example, flakes for big bowls? Or Ribbon cuts for big bowls? Is there any advantage?

Not a direct answer to your question, but very interesting: http://www.apassionforpipes.com/nei...-chamber-geometry-impacts-tobacco-flavor.html
I don't know of any hard and fast rules about "use this pipe for that tobacco", but many people have mentioned that a certain blend or cut performed best in a certain pipe they had. I suspect that there are too many variables involved to define these things universally, probably trial and error, YMMV, etc.

Greg Pease articles referenced in above link: http://glpease.com/BriarAndLeaf/?p=7
From part 2: "The moral? With pipes and tobaccos, it’s best to give each a fair shot at delivering what it can, rather than relegating it early to some particular category, or worse, to the dustbin."
