South African shaving soaps

The South African Williams stick was just discontinued only a few years ago..It was very very close to the Williams I used in the 1960's , a really top notch stick, even had the old rose scent in it. I have one stick, and I wish I could have bought a case of these S.A. Williams sticks , they are really fantastic lather makers.View attachment 1007587

The stick is very good indeed. Nothing sophisticated but still very nice. There’s an artisan soap maker in South Africa who makes a soap named Roseline with a very similar rosy scent.

He is most certainly not from South Africa but he certainly knows his soaps and creams!

Wait a second.... I know who he is in fact I know him personally. He’s a very nice guy who has a heart of gold. He’s extremely good looking, and also very humble. He’s married to a stunning woman!

Here is another "Blast from the past" from South Africa.

I remember when I started shaving with a cartridge, using this as a pre-shave cream.

You could either leave it for a few minutes and rinse off, or lather over it. Had a rather pleasant camphor/menthol smell. Some shaved using only this cream without lather.

Also useful for itchy insect bites, sunburn and a few more minor ailments that I have long forgotten. :)

Still made and sold in mainstream pharmacies.

I have it too!

It works great as an aftershave balm. It’s so cooling and soothing.

This is something I've never tried. I've always wanted to. I'll look it up on Amazon.

Wriggly Tin Shave Soap is also a local South African hand made from pure goat’s milk and vegetable oils shaving soap. The Goats milk comes from the Wriggly Tin Farm, where the goats are raised naturally and are not fed any hormones or stimulants. The fragrance comes from pure essential oils and natural clays for colourants - there are no preservatives, parabens or nasty chemicals. Goats milk is well known for its skin care properties, and has been used for thousands of years (dating back to ancient Egyptians).
