SOUTH AFRICAN LIFEBUOY

When I was in Tanzania 8 years ago I bought several bars of Lifebuoy soap , and at that time it still contained carbolic acid..Lifebuoy was the original mass produced carbolic soap in America years ago.. While in a Jamaican shop recently I bought some Jamaican carbolic soap and picked up a few bars of Lifebuoy , which I assumed were Jamaican. When I got them home I read the label and discovered they are South African Lifebuoys... Excellent scent , very quick to lather and has good

staying power....No carbolic acid , sadly , so they color it red to imitate the carbolic color. A very good bath bar.
 
As a youngster my mother would wash out my mouth with life boy if I said “bad word”. I can still remember the taste! Later on in life I used lifeboy as a Shaving soap when I ran out of drugstore soap. It yielded a good shave but was difficult to pair with an aftershave. Lol
